Döbriach on Lake Millstatt
Döbriach and its ambience
Döbriach is located near the east coast of lake Millstätter See, is the submontane of the mystical mountain called Mirnock and builds the entrance to the national park Nockberge. For this reason Döbriach is the ideal initial point for walking-tours in the alps and also for a visit to the Mill-Walking-Trail at Kaning. The unspoilt south coast (length: 13km) is perfectly reachable on foot or by bike from Döbriach. Thence it´s possible to plan nice tours, for example a turn around the lake (24 km) on the new build cicle path and footpath.
In the summer months a weekly market is taking place at Döbriach, wich has reached a popular meeting place for young and old. Countrymen, apiarists, winemaker and gastronomes from the region offer the hottest carinthian gastronomic specialties accompanied by live music and exciting shows.
Another characteristic is the climbing garden "Breitwand" (160m) with a fixed rope rout or other routs with different challenges. Accompanied from experted climbing guides you can have a memorable view on the "Millstättersee", Döbriach und its region. The "Nockstadt" Radenthein (5km from Döbriach) invites to shop or dawdle. To find Granate - the so called "drop of blood" from the "Nocke", you have to hike in the near located Granatschlucht (Granatcanyon). At the annual mineral-exhibit in july, bargainer and exhibitor get together at Radenthein.
